Description

For those not in the know, David Lynch is a famous director responsible for such films as Eraserhead, Twin Peaks, The elephant man and Mulholland Drive amongst others. These Limited edition packs are suggestive of a miniature theatre with silk curtains that pull back to an interior of chiaroscuro silhouettes. The link with the Champagne is slightly obscure something to do with faith in the absolute power of creation, but hey! It is still stupendous Champagne no matter the package. The wine growing region is at 49 latitude, which is at the northern most reaches of what is considered good for growing wine. Its lower temperatures create a hallmark acidity which would not be good for normal wines. But then we have the wonder of second fermentation and low and behold a white swan develops from an ugly duckling. the year 2000 was cooler than average, with frequent storms but it produced Chardonnay grapes that were supple ,ample and complex and Pinot Noir grapes that offered great strength and structure. The resultant crushing’s together with black grape skin juice produced a darker than usual amber and copper coloured liquid almost oriental in its appearance and not in any way pink. The nose is of Black cherry and candied citrus peel, cocoa and smoky accents. The palate is well balanced and very consistent with fresh fruitiness and a bittersweet finish.
